- Medications – Common medications prescribed by the doctors include calcium channel blockers, corticosteroids, insulin, S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe), and antioxidant supplements.
- Nutritional Counseling – Treating malnutrition is important to stop alcohol abuse
- Extra protein – Patients with alcoholic liver disease often require extra protein to help reduce the development of encephalopathy
- Liver Transplant – An individual often must be patient for six months or more before they are considered a potential candidate for liver transplant.
