here are 20 warning signs of liver damage you shouldn’t ignore.
Super-Itchy Skin
Primary biliary cholangitis is a chronic liver disease that affects the bile ducts in your liver. In most of the cases, it doesn’t typically have clear signs and symptoms.
However, experiencing itchy skin can be one of its early signs.
Your skin might be dry due to the hot environment, but if it’s a regular thing, you shouldn’t ignore it and consult your doctor or physician to rule out the underlying cause.
Itchy skin is also a sign of liver cirrhosis. Both of these liver problems are due to excessive alcohol consumption.
Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
Seeing the skin or the whites of your eyes start to turn pale or yellow can be incredibly scary. This condition is called jaundice.
Jaundice develops when there is excessive production or accumulation of bilirubin in the body. Bilirubin is a yellowish pigment secreted by the liver as a metabolic side product of cholesterol.
If you notice the discoloration of the skin or sclera of the eyes, it could be secondary to different signs of liver damage, such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, chronic liver disease and cirrhosis.
